Best quality - without any doubt!

DIN8330

Laco Hamburg DIN 8330
This is the new standard for pilot watches!

With the DIN 8330 Pilot Watch Collection, Laco presents timepieces that not only evoke classic pilot watches in their design, but were also developed as true instrument watches for professional use.

The models in this collection meet the requirements of DIN 8330, the world’s most demanding standard for pilot watches. It precisely defines technical criteria for functionality, robustness, and reliability—qualities a watch must fulfill even under extreme conditions.

The DIN 8330 collection therefore represents the consistent evolution of the historical pilot watch: from a navigation instrument of the past to a modern, technically certified instrument watch.
Laco watch manufacture – almost 100 years of tradition, excellent quality and progressive innovation.

DIN 8330 vs. TeStaF:
When testing becomes even more challenging.

The DIN 8330 standard was specifically developed for pilot watches and defines extensive testing procedures for operating conditions in aviation. The certification process includes three categories with a total of 16 individual tests, covering requirements such as: • high rate accuracy and functional reliability
• extreme temperature resistance
• resistance to shock and vibration

• magnetic field resistance
• reliable operability even under demanding conditions

These rigorous tests are conducted in close cooperation with specialized institutes, including FH Aachen – Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, which has extensive experience in aviation-specific testing procedures.

DIN 8330 is the direct successor to the former TESTAF standard (Technischer Standard Fliegeruhren).

While TESTAF had already defined high requirements, these were further expanded and refined in the DIN standard. As a result, DIN 8330 now represents the strictest technical standard for pilot watches worldwide.

The development of this standard reflects the increasing demands placed on instruments in modern aviation—while also demonstrating how the classic pilot watch has continued to evolve technically.

A true unique selling point
in the pilot watch market

While in the past other manufacturers also had pilot watches certified according to the TESTAF standard, there is currently no other watch from another manufacturer on the market with an active DIN 8330 certification. With its DIN 8330 collection, Laco therefore occupies a special position: it combines the brand’s historical expertise in pilot watches with a technically certified instrument watch at the highest level.

The pinnacle of Laco’s pilot watch world
The DIN 8330 models represent the most technologically advanced pilot watch line from Laco

They stand for maximum robustness, uncompromising functionality, and certified quality—developed for people who place the highest technical demands on their watch. The DIN 8330 collection therefore forms the technical spearhead of Laco’s pilot watches, while also highlighting the brand’s role as one of the leading manufacturers in this segment.

Captured for you:
xciting tests in sound and vision

Laco's DIN 8330-certified pilot watches represent the best of both worlds - the timeless aesthetics of classic pilot watches paired with state-of-the-art technology and certified precision.
Among the test standards to be met is resistance to liquids typical of flight operations, such as fuels or lubricating liquids.

Compatibility with the cockpit environment and night vision equipment must also be ensured. Similarly, it must be ensured that no reflections, glare or mirroring - of housing or glass - obstruct pilots in flight.

It is equally important that the watch withstands even the strongest vibrations, shocks and impacts and, thanks to the excellent strap strength, always sits securely on the wrist.
