The Altenburg 39 is the compact black version of the type A dial – a modern automatic pilot watch that sits confidently even on slim wrists. The black-coated stainless steel case picks up the color of the dial, while the pilot’s triangle and light numerals provide the contrast.
The result is a look that is understated and striking at the same time. With a suit, the watch is discreet; with jeans and a leather jacket, it looks almost a little rebellious.
The smaller format and dark surface show the freedom of the BASIC collection. While the ORIGINAL series stays true to the historical observation watches, here the pilot watch is free to show its colors – or, as in this case, to deliberately do without them. Curved lugs and a flat sapphire crystal ensure pleasant wearing comfort, and the automatic movement is on view through the exhibition case back.
The black riveted leather strap completes the monochrome look, and at night the numerals and hands glow. At 39 mm, the Altenburg is one of the most compact black pilot watches in the BASIC collection and is available with the Laco 31 caliber on request.
