The Bielefeld 42 is the type B dial in dark attire: a black pilot watch with an automatic movement whose dial traces directly back to the navigators’ observation watches. The minute track runs around the outside, the hour circle sits on the inside – the layout used on board to determine the aircraft’s position.
Laco wraps this instrument in a black-coated stainless steel case. Case, dial and leather strap merge into a single unit from which only the numerals and hands stand out; at night they glow, and by day they stand in sharp contrast against the black.
The ORIGINAL series shows the pilot watch as it was built in the 1940s. The BASIC collection asks what it could look like today – and the Bielefeld gives one of the most uncompromising answers. Curved lugs and a flat sapphire crystal give it presence without making it feel heavy. Through the exhibition case back you can see the automatic movement.
The black riveted leather strap is available with a folding clasp, and instead of the standard movement you can also choose the Laco 31 caliber with a longer power reserve. A watch for anyone who prefers to wear the instrument in black.
