The Augsburg Grau 42 brings the type A dial into monochrome gray. The pilot's triangle at 12 o'clock and the large hour numerals remain the core of the design, while the matte gray dial gives them a calm backdrop. The result is a gray pilot watch with an automatic movement that is sparing with color, but not with impact.
The only color accent comes from the heat-blued hands, which shimmer in different shades of blue depending on the light. Their luminous material is white and barely noticeable by day; in the dark, hands, numerals and markers glow blue-green.
With its color scheme, the Augsburg Grau shows how freely the Pilot Watches BASIC collection handles its heritage. The ORIGINAL series stays with the historical model; the BASIC takes it further: satin-finished stainless steel case, curved lugs, flat sapphire crystal and an automatic movement that winds itself as you wear it.
The watch is worn on a riveted gray leather strap, with a folding clasp on request, and delivered in a gray zip case. A pilot watch for those who prefer to let details be discovered rather than put them on show.
