At night, the Florenz 42 reveals its true face: the whole dial glows, and the numerals stand out sharp and dark against it. The Florenz 42 is a historically faithful pilot watch with a type A luminous dial and hand-wound movement in the classic 42 mm size.
On a pilot watch with a luminous dial, it is not the markings that carry the luminous material but the entire surface. This keeps the triangle with two dots, the numerals and the black lacquered hands legible as a clear silhouette even on a pitch-dark night. By day, the dial looks bright and friendly – an unusual sight for an observation watch.
The construction, by contrast, is entirely traditional: barrel-shaped case, straight lugs, a pressed-in case back and a dark sandblasted finish, just like the observation watches of the 1940s. Of the five historic manufacturers, Laco is the only one worldwide that still builds them in this form.
The hand-wound movement is wound daily via the large crown. The black riveted calfskin strap forms a contrast to the light dial.
